Abstract: The EPCs produce systematic reviews on health-related topics of concern to patients, clinicians, and policymakers. Systematic review topics are nominated through a public website and further developed and evaluated for the utility and contribution that a systematic review may contribute to improving health care in view of what currently exists. Systematic reviews commissioned under this program may examine the evidence on medications, devices, or other health care services. Systematic review is a scientific and rigorous process of gathering and synthesizing available research in an unbiased manner. These systematic reviews are expected to form the basis for other translation and dissemination tools to help patients, physicians, and policymakers make better decisions. In addition to commissioned translation products from the Eisenberg Center, the EPCs engage other partners such as guideline developers and policymakers to use the reviews in their decision making. To ensure the accuracy and quality of each report, each EPC report receives input from an editorial and peer review process. Under this contract, in addition to producing systematic reviews, EPCs also collaborate to advance the science and methods of systematic review which help to ensure consistency, credibility, and utility of the EPC reports.
