Abstract: From Contract 200-88-0644 Task 9 "Framework for Assessment Prevention Effectiveness and Cost-Effectiveness of Preventive Interventions in Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs)," six HMOs were selected based on their established health information systems, a capacity to perform health services research, the size and characteristics of the populations they serve, and demonstrated commitment and experience in providing and evaluating preventive services. With this network of HMOs, CDC program staff, and Battelle staff, three detailed protocols and six brief protocols will be developed for prevention effectiveness studies.
