| Abstract: | $301,194 to Brigham and Women's Hospital and Partners HealthCare System to study the use of information systems to improve the efficiency and quality of ambulatory care. Existing research indicates a huge gap between current best practices and actual performance. This study will evaluate the impact of computer order entry on the quality and efficiency of clinical laboratory test and drug use. The study will target areas of underuse (e.g., beta-blockers in patients with coronary disease) as well as overuse of unnecessary tests and drugs. |
